Just wondering if anyone that has one of these that has freq's set up in groups for analog trunk groups and how well it works?

I want the functionality of a radio, but also want to be able to group the trunk group of the local PD in for listening in while riding around.

Anyone do something similar?

?? If you're thinking the IC-208H can trunk, forget it. You will need a trunktracking scanner for that. You could set up something if your system echo'ed some of the talkgroups onto conventional freqs, but that's probably as far as you can go

I know it cannot trunk, but someone else told me that they had grouped all of the freqs into one group on the radio and were able to listen to trunked systems by scanning only that group with the radio. They said they locked out the control channel.

Anybody doing anything like this?

I Use Mine To Listen To A Trunked System That Only Has About Ten Users. The
208 Scans Very Fast, And Seldom Miss Anything. (all The Users Are Business
Users In The Same Company... No Need To Lock-out Any Talk Group... In A Large System, It Would Be Tuff.

So does it jump around on freqs when it changes? How much of a delay is it when the freq changes on the trunked system?
