I'm looking at getting the new ICOM IC-F3021 for a couple of different uses. According to www.nsiradio.com it is keypad programmable but nothing is mentioned on Icom's site or any other site. I still have yet to call up Red Dog Radios who I'd probably be purchasing from and I still have to check compliance since it's a new model but could someone give me an answer, or a better place to find an answer on weather this is keypad programmable???

I looked at the ad and don't see where it is keypad programmable. The site says the programmable keys are eary to use. It means you can program the buttons from a list of functions to do different things.

Don't think you are going to find a public safety keyboard programmable WT unless you buy something special.

Ok, I got my answer. I contacted the site that listed the radio as keypad programmable. The radio is keypad programmable the feature just needs to be enabled through software. ICOM just doesn't want to advertise the feature, I'm guessing they still want their dealers to stay in the radio programming business. I found the radio for $269 and its a split of 136-174 with 8 zones. I guess you can't go wrong.

The 3021 seems to have only one knob on top like a V82 amatuer unit. I find that the V82 is hard to use in darkness because you have to use the keypad to change channels. Could be something to think about. So the 3021 is keypad programmable? I suppose that the 3061 is capable of keypad programming too. Might be something to think about if I hit the lottery.

Yes, it is keypad programmable. I received two emails from different source that confirm that it can be done.

I'm waiting for my F3061T in next few days. I also have ALL information on how to activate DEALER MODE in the programming software and in the radio itself that let the user to manage by itself frequencies, tones, etc... without having to go through the PC software.

Software for the F3061 is available at this link....

http://www.rfmarketing.com/rfm/IcomSoftware/CS-F3060v1.1.zip

The service manual is there:

www.rfmarketing.com/rfm/bid/F3061_Service_Manual.pdf

I suggest all of you to download these links because I suspect the website owner who put this info there have no idea that people are getting all of this so easely.... and freely !!!

For people who already have this HT, let me know about your experience...
