Sorry for the late reply. Life got in the way. Yes ICOM USA is in Kirkland now. I seemed to remember that when I originally posted... but brain farts are common in my world.
I emailed with my phone number and received a call almost immediately, despite them having important meetings that week, I asked if I could come in and play with an HF rig I was seriously considering purchasing... but didn't want to drive to Portland to get my grubby fingers on it.
They were SO kind and gave me some time. Their lobby is a radio enthusiasts dream with radios and peripherals (ham, business, aero, marine) displayed beautifully from their entire history.
I was allowed to operate from their club station in house. I wish I could remember what rig it was... HUGE contesters rig with about 50 different pots. Unfortunately they didn't have the specific radio I was interested in. But did make several contacts on 20m using the 5 element beam on the tower and a 1k amplifier. The people I rag chewed with were very impressed they were talking to ICOM HQ. Even the Yaesu guys, ha ha ha.
Unfortunately the club is very limited as far as who can join. I think it's employees only. So I get the feeling this was a VERY special opportunity for me and as such I didn't take up much of their time.
I thank them immensely for the kindness.
