Hello,

Please put up with a dumb question, but I am truly
stumped with this.

Have just started using the Icom cloning software, CS-R8600.
New R8600, but I imagine my "problem" is not uniques.

Have a bunch of old files, in the .csv format, which I've never had any problems
in loading into SDRConsole, etc.

When I try to import/load them into the Icom cloning program (CS-R8600), I get an error msg.
that says "File Error-Illegal Data"

From what I can discern with my limited IQ, is that it wants the file to be loaded
in a *.icf format.

I have never run across this format before.
What is it, please ?
Shouldn't it (also) accept .csv ? If not, how does one convert from .csv to *.icf ?

As always, thanks for help,
Bob

Don't have the 8600 but suspect you may have to copy and paste to get this to work. I have the R30 and had to do something like this.

If you have software such as Microsoft Excel you can inspect the format and make changes -- probably the .CSV file you have is laid out differently to what the CS-R8600 is expecting. The .ICF format is opened by the CS-R8600 and also RT Systems Programming Software. Send me the file you have problems with and I will talk you though how to get the file to open with CS-R8600

Hi,

Thank you very much.
Greatly appreciated.

It would be a lot easier for me, although not 100 % necessary, if we
could perhaps do this thru regular eMail.

Mine is: rgsrose@comcast

Let's try this .csv file:

Thanks again; really nice of you
Bob

That file you attached is not a .CSV or .ICV file format. It's an export from SDR Console -- you've saved an .XML file as a 'text' (.txt) file. If you are 'exporting' from SDR Console, you need to make sure the file will be saved as a .CSV format. Nothing I can do with that file! Can't even import it into SDR Console.

Hi,

My goof. I apologize.
That old age thing again.
In my 80's now, but still enjoy the hobby very much.

But, I have to admit, I miss many of the "nuances" these days.

Here's a different one, that I am pretty sure is a .csv.

Thanks for putting up with me.
Really appreciative of your time.

Uh oh: when I tried to attach a file that I am pretty sure is a .csv, a msg came up
that it cant be attached as it is Not an allowed extension

Easiest thing might be if you send me a normal eMail, which I can then simply reply to with
a .csv attachment. I'm at: rgsrose@comcast.net

Regards, and again thanks,
Bob

Hello,

I've modified the file that you uploaded here and converted it to a csv file for you. Rename the attached files extension to .csv once you've downloaded it.

For RA7850:

Thanks for modified file.
When I tried to get it into the cloning software it says Channel Data Not Found.

Re the .XML. This is really "funny"
I don't think I've ever saved anything in xml. Can't imagine why I would want to.

The files I've sent/discussed all had a .csv extension. (I think)

I can't imagine Icom making their cloning software so tough to use.

General Questions: is it set up to accept a "normal" .csv file without any further conversation(s) ?

Do you, or anyone, have a file that actually works with the Icom cloning software directly
and can be imported directly into it without any further conversions ?

**If so, that's the one I would sure like to see and get a copy of (rather than mine or modifications to mine)

Thanks again,
Bob

if your using the IC-R8600 programming software by RT Systems Inc. Here is a copy of a memory file that I was working with recently. Just like before, once you've downloaded the file from here, rename the attached file to the following. my-milair.csv
