• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a F5061 with a handy 25-pin dsub connector on the back.
I know Icom sells a GPS unit that plugs into it, but I cannot find any documentation on the pinout for that connector. I think one of the pins is a dimmer and I would like to use that.

If anyone has used this connector or can point me towards more information I would greatly appreciate it.

whats your email? I can send you the pinout if you havent gotten it already. You can google it too.

Pinout found

Follow up - I did manage to locate a pinout for the D-SUB 25 pin connector. It's helpful but not complete information on what the pins mean. I suppose if I could read a schematic I could decipher it, but I was hoping for some meaningful documentation. After all, what good is it if we don't know how to use it? I guess ICOM sells their GPS add on that plugs into it.

Here are the mystery descriptors

PGI1
COR
EPTTO
EXMOD
AUD
DISC
PA
HORNO
VCC
DIMO
MMUT
HANGO

Is there a document that describes these?

Coffee beans “A” Close When cut, this routes mic audio to J1 option
connector. (Note: cut this when installing UT-109 or
UT-110)
Coffee beans “B” Close When cut, this routes receive audio through J1 option
connector. (Note: cut this when installing UT-109 or
UT-110)
Coffee beans “C” Close When cut, this enables PTT control from option unit
on J1.
Coffee beans “D” Open When connected, it routes external audio (SPIN) from
D-SUB (J602) to the transmit modulating circuit
Coffee beans “E” Close When cut, this isolates external transmit audio
(SIGO) on J1 option connector from the transmit
modulation circuit
Coffee beans “F” Open When connected, it routes external transmit audio,
pin 8 on D-SUB connector (J602) to the VCO
modulating circuit.
Coffee beans “G” Close When cut, this isolates the output on buffer Q49 from
the AFO signals on the mic jack (J503) (Note: this
modification requires closing coffee beans“H” below.)
Coffee beans “H” Open When connected, this routes audio output signals on
IC21 to AFO on the mic jack. (Note: this modification
requires cutting coffee beans“G” above).
Coffee beans “I” Close When cut, this isolates demodulator signals (AFOUT)
on J1 option connecter from the audio processor (pin
19 of IC2).
Coffee beans “J” Open When connected, this routes the demodulator signal
(AFOUT) on the J1 option connector to discriminator
signals (DISC)
Coffee beans “K” Close When cut, this isolates the audio processor’s
demodulator output (pin 18 of IC2) from
discriminator signals (DISC) on the J1 option
connector.
Coffee beans “L” Open When connected, this routes detector output signals
(DET) to discriminator signals (DISC) on the J1 option
connector.
Coffee beans “M” Open When connected, this routes CTCSS/DTCS decode
signals (CDEC) to discriminator signals (DISC) on the
J1 option connector.
Coffee beans “N” Open When connected, this routes the external modulation
signals on D-SUB Pin 8 of J602 to the mic modulation
circuit. For newer F6061 radios, (not F5061) you
need to also cut Coffee Bean T as described in
Technical Update Bulletin, knowledgebase number
C7A9111737.
Coffee beans “Q” Close When cut, this isolates the CTS signal line on D-SUB
(pin 5 of J602) from the internal RS-232 interface
(pin 14 of IC91) (Note: for this modification, you
must connect coffee beans “P”)
Coffee beans “P” Open When connect this, it connects CTS signal line on DSUB
(pin 5 of J602) from RTS signal line on D-SUB
(pin 15 of J602) (Note: for this modification, you
must cut coffee beans “Q”)
Coffee beans “S” These coffee beans are the PTT inverted logic level.
Coffee bean “T” Closed This must be cut in newer F6061 radios after serial
numbers described in Technical Update Bulletin,
knowledgebase number C7A9111737

so where can u find this technical bulletin update C7A9111737

i have a brand new f6061 and applying audio to pin 8 of the db25 its not making it to the mic circuit.
I checked and coffee bean N is open and coffee bean T is closed

do i need to close N and open T?? my serial number is 3107809

thanks Warren va7rc ve7dpg@telus.net
