If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am not familiar with that particular model, but I know an Icom guru I can ask.

Is your question if the RADIO can emit a beep in order to let the operator know that the PTT was depressed, or if the radio can TRANSMIT a beep to indicate to people monitoring?

About the mic opening after 3 seconds...does this happen in simplex, repeater, or trunked mode? Or all three?

I would like it to beep when the ptt is depressed so i know it was hit. I dont want a sound to go over the air. Is there a way to put it on repeater? I couldnt find it in the icom software, i just entered the freq, and dpl and it worked. Didnt know i had to program to sim, repeater, or trunk.

Are you using a usb or serial? Most of the time it will auto detect. just make sure the radio is on.

Hello,

Yes you can have PTT beep in transmit with the following:
1- Press and hold Up Channel key and P3 together then power up. You will see on LCD Firmware version R1.1 sum462C, then just do simple step below:

NOTE: Always read your radio first and save file as in case you have a problem.

2 - Open your Icom CS F50 software Rev 2.1, on the Nav bar click on Model ,select PMR 5Tone/DTMF model menu.

3- Enter your RX TX frequency, in CTone enter your DTCS as you done in the LMR model menu.

4- In Zone 1 CH where you enter your RX TX and DTCS, move your mouse to the right where scanlist, you will see Log In/Off , select Log in. the last thing you need to do is in 5Tone Signaling where you see ID, just
select ID 1, then write to your radio, power off and back on.

5- Press PTT you will here the beep sound.

The other probem you have in delay because most Repeater they usuallt set TX delay( we called that a Squelch Tail) to let the other receiver know that the consersation is completely finished.

Now if that Repeater is connected to a Link, that was a reason more delay ususally takes about 3 sec. So you have to be aware of that.

Let me know if you need more Info

I hope this help
