The software and radio just do not like 154.4525.

I've tried both narrow and wide, and neither works. Am I missing something? I'm not trying to transmit on it or anything...I can't even get the radio to accept it.

Did you ever think that the radio won't do splinter channels.

See, no prior experience with radios. Only time I've heard "splinter" is with 800 systems near the borders. Didn't know VHF had them...point to a link describing it?

Some of the public safety frequencies in the VHF high band short step where the business band users start and stop. If you put 154.145 in your scanner and the step at 0.0075 and roll the increment knob up, you will be out of step with the actual band plan soon. Something like this may be upsetting your F30GT's programming and be the reason the radio was discontinued. This is interesting and if I get the chance this weekend, I will try putting Vtac2 in my old Icom F30LT (16 channel) type radio. Have to drag out a older computer and boot on DOS to do it.

I tried to program it in an Icom F30LT (16channel) and it wouldn't take it either. Traumacop may be right about a flash upgrade, but if the pll in the radio won't step at 2.5 khz, it still may not do the freq. Some of the splinter freqs fall in th 7.5 khz step range that most newer than 1996 radios will do. Apparently some don't.
