• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have 2 ICOM IC-F3161DT 66 RR version with V3.1.1 firmware w/ 2.0 rev and want to flash it to V4.6.2. / w rev 3.2 or to the LMR V.5.2/ w rev 3.2. It is password protected on cloning and in order to remove it (or program it) I must flash the radios again and revise the firmware in the process. What recommended service centers that is reasonable to have this done and or can someone furnish the flash so I can do this myself. Please PM on this if needed.

Thanks.

DO NOT ASK ME FOR HELP PROGRAMMING YOUR RADIO. NO.
Whomever password protected the radio needs to surrender the password or remove the password from the radio. If they surrender the password, then it still needs to be removed from the radio.

My advice is NEVER permit anyone to password protect YOUR radio. There have been instances of unscrupulous dealers who will password protect EVERY radio that comes through their door to prevent YOU from being able to change the programming in your OWN radio. And then they can charge you for EVERY little change they make.

If YOU do your own programming, you can password protect it if you want. But be absolutely clear with anyone else who programs it for you: NO PASSWORDS.

On the radios with the RR firmware, the radio will only accept radio frequencies in the RR band. Put regular firmware in your radio and it should work ok

Matt131,

That's not correct. I have a 3161DT RR with 3.1.1 firmware and I can program ham and public safety frequencies in it. If your in direct channel acces mode then it will only tune RR frequencies.

RR versio 3.11 & up allows for programing of the front keypad to allow direct ARR channel entry. When this option is set in software, the front keypad will not do anything else.
