ICOM F6130D Wideband Entitlement

I purchased a new Icom F6130D UHF radio with the intent of using it on GMRS and amateur radio bands, and possibly on an LMR frequency for my nonprofit organization in the future. The specifications state that the radio is 25khz capable with an *. I wrongly assumed that Icom handled wide-band entitlement similar to Motorola which is that you can easily buy an entitlement key.

I spoke to Icom tech support on the phone and the representative said that in order for wide-band to be enabled, it has to be done by Icom and only for government agencies. He said that Icom will not enable wide-band for other use cases due to Icom fearing liability from a user inappropriately using a wide-banded frequency.

Does anyone know if there is a solution available to enable wide-band on the F6130D? Its a new radio and without wide-band enabled I don't have any real use for it at this point in time. Any guidance is appreciated.

There is a seller on eBay from the UK, you might want to check with them they sell a lot of Icom SW.

The Australian version allows for 25k programming out straight out of the box, only difference is we only get the 25 watt output
