The IC-2AT is a two-meter (144-148 mHz) Handy-Talkie. I have one. These were first introduced in about 1979 or 1980. They can transmit and receive only in the two-meter ham band. They are very reliable radios, but the thumbwheel switch at the top tends to wear out after years of (ab)use. Replacing this switch is no picnic. It is NOT A SCANNER!!

Repeat: IT is NOT a scanner. You must have an Amateur Technician Class (or higher) license to transmit with this rig.

Wanna buy one? I have one from about 1980. I was in New York a few years back and one of the electronic stores was selling them as if they were new products.

Also, they are single frequency radios. They make good radios for packet stations or APRS trackers, never have to worry about them losing their memory and changing frequency. I have several for that use.
