To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have an IC-F521 and am working on some programming issues. I am trying to get it to do off-hook scan. I can get the on-hook scan but cannot find a setting for off-hook scan. I will have some other questions but need to get this sorted out ASAP.

Thanks

In your programing software go to the common folder, click on Key and Display,at the bottom of the page under Hanger action there should be an option for Hook on Scan. You need to turn this to on. That should do it.

Thanks......that got it. Another quick question: I am not sure if I have the P-buttons set correctly. I want to be able to toggle back and forth between scan lists. I have all the lists set but can't get the selecting each scan list right.

This is some radio. The receive sensitivity is at .11uv on my service monitor. Full open at about .17uv.

If I can get this programming down this is gona be a great radio. Only wish is that it had a detatchable face.

I have the same problem with my F521. I have all the scan lists set correctly, however no matter what bank I am in, when I press my programmed "Scan A Start/Stop" button, it will automatically start scanning bank 1. I can be in bank 8 and I hit P1, and it automatically starts scanning bank 1/scan list 1. I can not get it to scan any other scan lists.

Any ideas?

Hi, in order to change scanning lists, with the radio not scanning, press and hold the scan start button. the radio will beep, the using the up/down buttons go to the scan list you want, press the start button to select the list, then press it again to start scanning.

I tried that, several times. I can change banks no problem, however when it comes to changing scan lists I am not able to. I tried doing what you said and I was unsuccessful. In my "Key & Display" tab I have P0 set as "Scan A Start/Stop" I have all of my 9 scan lists in "M1 (Normal)" under the "Scan Mode" tab. I have 9 different banks and 9 different scan lists (1 for each my surrounding counties). I was under the impression that that is the way to go.

Do you have each channel in a bank set to a specific scan list. if you open Memory and select Bank each channel has a column for scan list, 1 to 0, each channel has to be assigned a list number, I use the bank number to make it easy. and next to the scan list is a column that says Inc. each channel you want to scan must have Inc next to it.

Yes I do. How I have it set up is as follows: each bank (#1-9) is set in the scan list accordingly -> Bank 1 has 17 set frequencies, in each of those 17 lines, in the "Scan List" section, all have a "1" in Bank 2, I have 17 different sets of frequencies, and in each of those 17 lines, in the "Scan List" section, all have a "2", this continues for 9 different banks, making 9 different scan lists. All have say "Inc" in the "Inc" section next to the scan list section. All of the following was under the "Memory CH" tab. Under the "SCAN" tab, in the "Scan List" secondary tab, all of my 9 scan lists are labeled how I want them, each says "M1 (Normal)" under the "Scan Mode" section. My P0 is set at "Scan A Start/Stop" and when I press that, no matter want bank I am in, it will always ONLY scan my scan list 1. I try holding it and using the up and down arrows, no success. No one can seem to figure this out. I appreciate any and all ideas. Thank you.

First check your Private Messages, second when you hold the scan start button it should beep hold it 'til it beeps a second time and let go, then the right side up/down buttons should change the scan lists when the list you want is showing press start again to choose the list, press again to start scanning.
