I have one and use my fingers to program it. Easy to do from the front panel.

I do it that way now, however i am looking to make things easy while building a file.

Do you belong to the groups.io IC9700 group? I remember some discussions of programming software there in the past.

RT Systems makes a package, (software and cable) for the IC-9700. I don't have that particular radio, but I have RT software for eleven different Yaesu radios and it's flawless.

I'm using RT Systems (doesn't need special cable, just the correct USB cable, and you probably have it already) with my IC-9700, been a while since I have noticed a bug in the software. I also use the Icom CS-9700 software, it's much faster, but not as refined, and free is good. Firmware / Software | Support | Icom Inc..
