• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello !

I received an ic-f3021s as gift from a friend, and its making me crazy trying to program it. I can program the radio to the frequencies i want, but when i turn the radio on all i can hear is static, it shows like its always receiving a signal. When i turned the squelch up on the adjust tool i can make it better so its not always receiving a signal but then i get no transmission at all. Also i can barely understand the transmission I'm getting since it is full of static, i have to turn the speaker very high in order to understand something out of the static. what setting should i be looking at as the culprit? Btw thanks in advanced.

Hi,

The F3021s has two version Rev1.5 and the latest is Rev 3.2.

The Rev 1.5 has a separate Adjustment software, you can use that program to adjust your squelch level around 100 level, Squelch level from 0-255 at 100 : -117dBM.

The new version Rev3.2 the adjustment software is intergrated into the main program, you can find in the Nav bar there is a red screwdriver icon, click on that to read your radio, then double click on Adjust to open the program, go down to squelch and adjust to level 4, because the new version squelch level is 0 to 9. 7db different.

To check your portabe radion verion:
push and hold P0 and P3 then power on if you see R 3.1 is a new version, if not it is Rev.1.5
