Does the Icom IC-R30 have AGC selection for the civil and military AM airbands or just SSB selection? Also, does the receiver mute AES encrypted audio?

I don't own one but the manual says there's no AGC. It's RF Gain 1-10 (10 being max and if that is set then it doesn't show on the display. Only RFG1-9 will show up) and then there's the ATT levels.

Not sure about encryption. My guess is it won't unlock audio for encrypted P25 -- it'll just display the NAC.

All AM receivers have to use RF AGC or the signal will bottom out and get severly distorded or the gain will not be enough to receive weak signals.

I saw a review that mentioned an AGC selection on SSB,so I was curious to know if it also functioned on AM and in the airbands.

I guess it doesn't have a seperate AGC function selection then.

Thanks

Just found this from another online review:

For SSB modes the well-chosen AGC decay rate does well with no excessive distortion or other gremlins. There is no manual fast or slow decay rate selection offered.
