I recently inherited an Icom IC-R7100 receiver. I would like to power it with a DC power supply but can't find a 12 volt power cable for it. Can anyone direct me to a source that sells the power cable?

The OEM cable is Icom part number OPC-023C. You may be able to find one on eBay or at a dealer that has old Icom stock.

Or, you can make your own. Check at Radio Shack to see if they have a 4-pin Molex connector that matches the DC input on the back of the radio (between the fuse for the internal AC power supply and the antenna connector). Then get some 18 gauge or larger zip cord and make the cable you need.

The only power cable I've been able to find was a OPC-023A and it was $38.00. I don't know what the difference is between the OPC-023C and the OPC-023A. I suppose the connectors could be the opposite of each other.

To DIY if you can't find an assembly, you'll need:

one of these:
Molex Incorporated - 03-09-1042 - Rectangular Connectors - Connectors - Allied Electronics
Pin 1 is positive - pointed side of housing
Pin 4 is ground - flat side of housing

two of these
Molex Incorporated - 02-09-1119 - Contacts - Nylon Connectors 0.093" Terminal Housing Connectors Contacts (Terminals) - Allied Electronics

Use 18 AWG zip cord to connect to car power. The Icom OEM cable was supplied with 3 Amp fuses and holders on both the positve and ground wires.

Thank you Sir! I suspect I will probably end up having to make one. That information was very helpful.
