Is there anyone who still repairs ICOM radios?

Hi. Not sure what is going on with the radio, I did a youtube video of the issues. This morning I went to test out the SSB and followed the manual of how to set up the radio when it is turned off. When I turned it on it came on for about a minute and then lost power. As I went to move it I tapped (soft rap) it on the side and it came on (loose connection inside? I won’t open it to check) and then the antenna isn’t making good connection, I tried two different PL259 coax cables and a splitter and they all act the same, if you touch the antenna lead to the center of the SO259 you get good signal but when you put it into the coax lead it loses connection.

The radio when it is working is super. Right now I have the PL259 connector resting on the antenna connection and picking up 3.330 time station from Canada.

I don’t want to monkey with it at all, not sure if there is a solder connection inside that isn’t making good contact or what.

The R71A is a great receiver. Pretty sure that Icom is still doing repairs on that model.

I also have an R71A, but haven't used it in years. From my foggy memory I recall an antenna switch on the rear panel, if it's there. trying switching it over to the other position and see if reception is okay with the coax connector properly seated.

As to the power problem, I wonder if the power switch is simply gummed up a bit. Have you tried manipulating the switch in and out a bunch of times to see if the radio will come on? Otherwise, an old relay that needs cleaning inside. On either issue, CRC cleaner works wonders.

I didn't know if I should start a new post or just add here.... I also have and love my R71a. My shack is in the basement and on very humid days, I press the power button and all I get is a click from the speaker. No audio, no freq display. On dryer days it works like a champ. What type of component would be that sensitive to humidity? A leaky cap perhaps?
