I've just purchased an R75 and would like to know if anyone has modded one of these Receivers to take an IF connector? The Icom R8500 already has one of these connectors factory fitted and I would like to add one to the R75.
My main reason is that I would like to connect an external high precision GPSDO as a stable clock reference along with an SDR Panadapter.
Has it been done, and at which IF stage is best?
Cheers

Updating my previous post - I found what I was looking for on KD2C's website - the 'PAT V RF Tap Board' - link below

KD2C Radio Products - Panadapter Boards

Dave is very responsive to email - and has advised that there are two methods of tapping into the R75 - each method requiring a different board.

The first method is to tap into the IF stage - and the second is to tap into the RF.

I chose the second method - PAT V Board - as this will yield almost unlimited bandwith on the Panadapter and will also add a second receiver to the setup. I've also ordered the 'Connection Kit' from him with a BNC bulkhead connector for RF output on the rear panel.

The R75 is a very sensitive receiver capable of 1 Hz tuning steps and with a modern SDR as Panadapter the spectrum and waterfall will be visible for these tired old eyes. Hopefully if it configures the way I think it should using Omnirig - it should provide bi-directional control between the R75 and the PC.

If you remember this thread, could you add a comment how that worked in real life?

The AGC acts on the signal after the last narrow IF filter. You would have to turn AGC off in the R75 and use manual gain control to get enough signal but not too much that would clip the signal in either the PAT board, SDR receiver or earlier RF stages in the R75.
