Is it possible to decode and map GPS Data from an IDAS Conventional System Using SDR these days? If not does anyone have any software ideas to plot gps data?

Thanks!

DSDPlus Fast Lane will capture GPS data if it is being sent (and in a form that DSDPlus knows about). I know it definitely will capture GPS data for NEXEDGE48/NEXEDGE96 trunked. I cannot personally testify that it will decode GPS data from an IDAS conventional frequency.

has anyone found something to take that gps string and plot on a map to your knowledge? last time I ran dsd I am pretty sure the gps string was captured on a conventional frequncy

IF you saw GPS information in the main DSDPlus window when monitoring a conventional frequency, then it does log that information to a file ccalled DSDPlus.LRRP in your DSDPlus folder.

And you can then use LRRP.EXE (also in your DSDPlus folder) to view a map of the logged LRRP data.

Here is an example from DSDPlus.LRRP (and forgot the bogus lat/long -- the system I was monitoring didn't have proper lat/long stuff set up for its users).

2024/11/08 5:06:42 1160 4.60817 -74.12990 1.434 98
2024/11/08 5:06:44 1141 4.60650 -74.12912 0.281 352
2024/11/08 5:06:47 2530 4.59692 -74.17796 0.422 24
2024/11/08 5:06:47 7750 4.70698 -74.10981 0.028 350

Normally, you could just take 4.7098,-74.10981 and enter that in Google Maps and it'll pop up the location. So if you don't want to use LRRP.EXE, you can manually copy the lat/long info from DSDPlus.LRRP and paste it into Google Maps using that format.
