in your device manager can you verify what you have under Ports (COM & LPT) ?
you should have Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge.

Make sure your receiver is connected and powered on before looking

P.S you can reach device manager in win7 by the control panel

Try looking for generic USB drivers for the adapter cable. I'm pretty sure I used Prolific drivers to get mine working.

Some software will only work well with a DB9 to DB9 cable. I found purchasing a serial adapter card easier.

Good luck.

Not sure what USB to serial adapter you're using... but it might be a good idea to upgrade the adapter if it's an older model.

This USB to serial adapter is considered by many to be one of the best on the market. It's not cheap at 18 bucks... but it will get the job done when many cheap or older ones won't.

USB RS232 Serial Adapter DB9 Male for Windows 7 (32/64 bit) Adapter Only USB-COM-PL Best Quality $17.95

I've owned this one for a few years and constantly use it to connect old 1980's era 8-bit computers to my laptops running XP, Win 7, and Win 8 and have yet to find a situation where it would not work.

I also used it to connect a PCR-100 via Win 7 and it worked flawlessly.

Icom PCR-1000 and Widows 7 Home

I have had god luck using windows 7 Home Premium with mu Icom PCR-1000 receiver. I connect it via DB9 serial cable and use the Bonito software it came with. On another computer, I had a Keyspan serial to USB adapter that worked well also.

Icom, like Motorola seems to like serial cables, but Keyspan adapter do tend to work well with PC's and Mac.

After playing around with Windows 7 and the PCR-1000, I went back to using a Palm device to remote control it instead of a laptop.

Hi all, does anyone know if a PCR1000 can Rx IDAS (NXDN) with a UT-126H optional board?

Thanks, G
