• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

What is it you are looking for? I have seen your posting this same question in other threads.

Icom normally does not load more then a couple of frequency's into any of the commerical/business radios.

What they do is, the radio will have a frequency at the low, middle and high end of the working range so that the dealer can have a base to check the radio out before doing any customer frequency programing.

There used to be some MURS radio's out that had just the 4-6 MURS frequency's but I have not seen any of these radios in years.

My experience is they typically a few frequencies which were there for test and alignment purposes during manufacture. Often the lowest and highest frequencies in the range covered by that model, and sometimes a center frequency. If there were more than a couple they were the same freq with CTCSS, DCS, 2 tone etc to test the signalling functions.

As an example I just looked at a saved factory program that came out of an F5021, was as follows:
136.1000
155.1000
173.9000
155.1000 with DCS 023N
155.1000 with CTCSS 67.0
155.1000 with CTCSS 250.3

But I wouldn't count on any factory programming to be consistent, it's just whatever is left in there from manufacture. A couple factory programs I opened up for different radios just had a single channel programmed of 136.0000.

The land of broken calculators.
In addition to the above posts, you need to have a license to transmit on frequencies in the business pool. Several of those don't require coodination but the overwhelming majority of them do. That's when a separate private company picks frequencies for you based on your location and equipment. Once they do that then you can apply for an FCC license.

You can't just pick an open frequency and start using it.
