I couldn't believe Icom would dump both the 8500 and the R75...the R75 is selling faster than IHOP pancakes...

thats funny, ray novak from icom didnt say a thing when he stopped by on friday.

i think its a good move on icoms part- good receiver for the money and the cabinet parts are the same as the ic-718!

Hmmmmmm... Both of my R75s came with the UT-106 already installed and a nice bright red and white `factory' looking sticker on their respective boxes saying, "UT-106 Already Installed". I guess that there already was enough demand for R75s w/ the DSP unit that they were already making them with it installed even before this `flap' about it being `discontinued'? (I bought both of mine earlier this year because I'd noticed that so many of the good HF receivers seemed to be disappearing and I figured I'd better grab one for use and a second as a backup before everyone discontinued selling HF receivers. [I also figured that I'd give my `hollowstate' receivers a much needed `Rest & Relaxation' and maybe even eventually get them on the bench for a bit of `Repair & Restoration', IE: Go through them and give them a good cleaning, replace any tubes that might be `going soft', relamp, replace any `caps' that are `suspicious', and just generally give them some TLC.,and also get them ready for our planned, and much needed, move to new quarters. I do miss that nice `warm glow' and the `mellow' sound of them, though.]) Both places I picked mine up from never charged me for installing the DSP and even though one place claimed that it was part of an overall `package' I paid exactly the same price for both of them. (The only difference was S&H.)

not on ICOM japan's website

The r75 is not on the ICOM Japan website. Sounds like that ICOM America is just saying that this unit is comming just to sell there remaining stock?
