Icom R20 Programming cable

I'm looking to build/buy a R20 programming cable. I have a chinese usb to 3.5mm jack which works my 706 fine. Having looked on Fleabay, some sellers are selling cables which work on the R20 and they also list the 706. Do I need a different cable or will the one from my 706 do? I have tried it but it didn't work. If I do need a different type can anyone point me in the right direction.

You can use a usb camera cable. The one for your 706 should work as long as the plug fits.

Ok will have to try the 706 lead again. So the usb lead is just a standard lead then?

Ive just tried two leads. One was plugged into a 756 and another into a 706. Both leads work fine using software. I did notice that one was a stereo plu and the other was a mono plug. Both are connecting to the PC fine though. I cant get the R20 to connect using HRD or ARC20. I have got the correct comm ports and I made sure the address and baud rate matched.

For programming/ARC20 you must use the USB connection. This is a standard USB cable.
