The wiki is a great place to start, but it is nice to hear what people are using and what is good and what is not good. Hope to hear some comments on what people are using to program their R20.

Join up with the R20 Yahoo group - also linked on that wiki article - and you'll have a bunch of dedicated users that can likely give you some answers.

I used the CR-20 software for my R-20 when I had it. It did the job but lacked any flexibility. Also it did not have any supporting documentation. A lot of trial and error and ultimately- frustration. The R-20 is an excellent radio but has a steep learning curve.

Also, the Yahoo group for the R-20 is excellent. Lots of people who know this radio inside and out.

Most all of Icom's software leaves a lot to be desired. I can't understand it either. They make great radios, and who better than them should be able to write software that best supports, and exploits all the features of their radios? They fail miserably. Icom was still supplying DOS based software when most of us were running Windows 98, or Windows 2000.

To make matters worse, they're stingy with the required details that would allow others to write software.
