My R8500 went very deaf recently on VHF/UHF. 30Mhz and below worked fine. I sent it to the Icom repair site in Michigan. My experience was a very good one and repair costs where very resonable for service, parts and return shipping.
Matt was the service tech that did the repair. A very nice person to deal with. Kept me informed on all work/costs and no surprises on final bill. They do not answer the phone right away at times but they do have an answering machine and they do call you back in a timely manner. More than likely busy in the middle of a repair job.
Would use them again for service work without hesitation.
