Icom series and Yaesu: R1 vs R2 vs R5 vs VR500 which one is the best??

Hi, guys i was just wondering that which scanner is good to go? without blocked functions & which one is the easiest to convert to be unblocked ? after all, which one's has the best sound qualities as well as in nomal scannings?

my choice will be Icom R1 , R2 , R5 or VR-500.... all of them without freq blocking.

I like the performance, size, sound, and features of the Icom R-5, with a slight edge on sound and keypad for the VR-500.

Sorry, there is no converting them.

what's wrong with R2? does anyone know? and does all of icom ic r1 r2-r5 has C/W functions?

I like R5 very much, cute looking and good performance too.
R3 and R5 do not support cw.

R20 is the pro's scanner.

By the way i do not think r1 and r2 are current model.

R5 for size and sensitivity. Nice small package , can go into the pocket if needed. Not bad on battery life either

icom R2

I have owned the R2 for several years now and carry this little radio daily, I do not think it can be opened up for full coverage. Have had no problems at all. Use a radio shack clip on speaker, this has cought and saved the radio from hitting the ground several times. I would like to try the R5 as it has more features and is the most current model. I still would not part with my R2. Kfred
