Icom: ICOM U-86 antenna

got a Laird G420BN antenna for my new to me U-86. Has BNC male connector but will not lock down like the factory antenna.
Just looking for thoughts. Did I get the wrong antenna for a ICOM

Icom has an inverted female BNC socket so a standard type connector won't work.
There are adapters to solve that. or get an Icom replacement antenna.
Even finding replacement 'rubber duck' antennas for these is getting scarce.
See if New London technology might have them.
