We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

I just ordered a BCD996T. After looking at the software protocol for this scanner, I have decided not to include support for this scanner in ID Tracker but attempt developing ID Tracker II to support this new generation of scanner.

I plan on keeping much the same format and capabilities as ID Tracker but there will need to be some changes made. Initially, only Serial Port support will be available since this will be the quickest way to get things started. I may add USB support in the future.

Any thoughts on this?

Sounds like a great plan. I use your software with my older Unidens for logging unknown EDACS talkgroups. Is it also possible to add BC246T support? I would love to dedicate that scanner to it and for trunker.

Brandon,

It's possible to add support for the 246T. The protocols are very similar so once I figure out the 996 then adding the 246T should not be much of a problem. I will need a tester with a 246T.
