I just moved to the Mississippi coast and am learning to monitor the Coast Guard I have a pretty good handle on the aircraft but no idea on the vessels.
For instance, today I am monitoring Coast Guard 2305 (Casa HC-144 aircraft) assisting with a disabled fishing boat in the gulf. they are talking with Coast Guard 45683 which I am guessing is some sort of vessel? Comms are on CG-111 (162.325 P25)
Thanks,

CG-45683 = a 45' CG Vessel
first two numbers indicate the length

Have you tried looking on Marine Traffic website? They track CG boats.

Thanks guys for the excellent info.
It would appear that she is a Response Boat Medium. I dont see this particular number on the Wiki, so perhaps she is fairly new.

Response Boat Medium's have been around for quite a while. They shift them around, so maybe it just never was added.

USCG hull numbers work like this:
For vessels up to 99 feet long, the first two digits are the length. 45683 is a 45' RBM. 87301 is an 87' coastal patrol boat.

Above 99', it's just the hull number sequence.

Back when I was in, only vessels 65' or longer were given names.

YMMV as to accuracy as this boat has not been logged by AIS since Position Received: 2020-05-14 00:45 UTC

USCG and US Navy will limit the public AIS usage
