Hi, I need some help finding "new" trunked systems from you pros out
there. I will give a quick synopsis of my relevant experience and
what I am trying to accomplish so you can get a better idea on how to
guide me. It's easy while being back home in the USA to look up FCC
or radio reference but what do I do when that data is not available
for where I am located ????? I basically need help trying to learn
HOW TO find out all the information about "new" unidentified trunked
radio systems where I am located. How do I tell if they are MOT or
EDACS or LTR and how the heck do I successfully program them????
Here goes....
My experience
---------------
I am a BC246T user for about 6 months and love this scanner!
I think I have got the scanner pretty well figured out in terms of
how to use all of its features and buttons and modes.
I live in Florida and have successfully programmed in ALL the systems
in my area and they work perfectly.
I have also done a LOT of search and store for conventional
frequencies in my area succesfully.
What I have done so far
------------------------
I am currently working on contract on a small Caribbean island for
the next 6 months and obviuosly I HAD to bring along my 246T
I have done a lot of search and store and have found that VHF HI is
very populated on the island in the 148Mhz to 174Mhz range. Great,
all is well so far.....
I have also found ALL the airband commercial frequencies for the
airport and ground operations overhere as well. great again! At least
I am hearing some stuff by now after a week or two of searching.
What I need help with
----------------------
Now, I have scanned the UHF band between 400 and 512 and got a just a
very few hits for what sounds like police and fire and ambulance
traffic but I also have found a few "data-type" channels around 460
Mhz.
Can this be control channels for trunked systems ????
If so, how can I tell WHAT type of trunked systems they are?? LTR MOT
EDACS ? How do I program them for listening to the activity?? Is it
possible that they are just some type of data only frequencies but
NOT trunked systems ??
Secondly, I found another "data-type" control channel around 856 MHZ.
By pure luck I just decided to make a new Motorola 800MHZ Standard
system and plug in that one control frequency and set the scanner to
Control Channel only mode and BADDA BING BADDA BOOM I get a very
active trunked system! great ! Wish I can figure out what to do with
the stuff in the 460 MHZ area......
Also I think I found another control channel or some type of data
channel around 952 MHZ. I also tried programming that in the scanner
as motorola 900MHZ system with "control channel only" option set but
I got no activity for 3 days solid of monitoring it. What's up ????
Same with the 460 MHZ data frequencies. I tried pluggin those in as
MOT UHF trunked systems but no luck.
What I need
-------------
Some of you real pros out there to guide me on how to identify if
these are really some other trunked systems or not....
And secondly....if they are....how the heck do I figure out exactly
how to program them in what mode and what options etc etc etc.
THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ALL THE GURUS WHO RESPOND. I WILL TRY TO KEEP
YOU ALL UPDATED ON HOW I PROGRESS.....
