Can someone tell me what cable my radio guy sold me-in my haste to get home and set up I trusted his judgement on choice of cable. This is all it says on the jacket: procom mini 8 by felden 2df. Thanks

Ah thanks Dave. May I ask is it a good pick he did as far as loss and load? I can't ask him as he just retired his business and went underground. I get very satisfactory reception on 800 and I've recieved up to 45 miles on uhf (antenna is an Antenna Specialist discone) Thank you for your input-

Loss is a function of frequency and length of the cable run: the higher the frequency or the longer the cable run, the greater the loss. Since you say you get satisfactory performance on 800 Mhz, then I would say you don't have a real problem. However, RG8X is not known as a true low-loss cable so you could, in theory, do better.

If by load you mean resistance or ohm rating, it is a nominal 50 ohm cable.

I subscribe to the principle of if it isn't broke, don't fix it.
