• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

It’s sad, it’s hard to believe these are grown men doing this crap. Makes one wonder if they are giving people in the insane asylums a CB radio. Honestly I don’t understand what kind of adult acts like this? These aren’t kids with a $100 radio and a magmount antenna. These clowns have spent some money. Seriously who spends thousands of dollars to make annoying noises? I’m generally baffled by this.

Hell, I have a fat unemployed welfare recipient here that has said he has a .380 with my name on it, because I am new and can be heard. This one I met to give him a Galaxy SSB radio because he did not have SSB. With in the hour I heard him talking on 38LSB. He took his golden screwdriver to it and screwed it up big time and said I gave him a piece of crap. A few came back and said he sounded fine on it earlier. To make a long story short , he came to my house in the night and threw the radio on the roof of my car scratching the crap out of it. He kept the mount and power cord. Told him I wanted all back and mentioned it was a fine radio until you screwed it up, then the fun began, nice thing is when he lit up and threaten me with a bullet, I called the Sheriff. He and his cronies continued on and when the Deputy was here I called him and he repeated I have a 380 with your name on it. South Carolina here, on record, castle law, I can shoot to kill.
What a lot of CB op’s don’t understand is that threatening and intimidating on air is exactly the same as threatening and intimidating as if you were facing each other in public. And you can go to the police and the police will take it serious especially if a weapon is mentioned. If you are smart enough and have it recorded it’s case closed. Plus if it’s caused you trauma then you can go to court and sue.

True story here Down Under. In the 90’s a ham operator was saying horrendous things about another ham. The perpetrator was calling him names and trashing his country of birth and religion which was Jewish. (Please note I’m no way any shape or form racist, I’m only stating the true facts.) So you can imagine what the perpetrator was saying. Smart thing is the ham op that was receiving all this verbal abuse had recorded every second of abuse and threats coming from the perp. With all this information with witnesses he went to the cops. The perp got charged and they went to court. The perp was found guilty of intimidation and racism and was sentenced to 2 years jail and later was sued for a very large sum of money. He the perp had to sell his property and land to pay the receiver of his insults.

Here’s a TV news video about UHF CB in Sydney Australia involving a home invasion due to CB radio. I was listening when all this was happening. With FM power is might. It’s sooo different to power games using AM. If your got power by using a linear and ã good antenna (array) like 6 co-phased 24 element yagi’s on FM pointing directly at the repeater and living within 10 miles of the repeater, you completely drown out all op’s on that frequency or repeater in this case. And it ends up to rage like what’s on this news clip. This happened over 20 years ago and I wish I had my Uniden UBCD536-PT with recording option.
