will my 246T still give me a severe weather alert if any of the countys I have programmed FIPS codes get a hit??
I had to turn the WX alert priority off because it kept causing normal scanning to sound choppy and missing information when people were talking.
Now I'm worried that it won't alert me to severe weather when there is a alert issued.
Thanks

If you don't have the WX scanning on, then it won't alert. You'd be better off buying a separate weather radio.
Personally, I find the weather & "fire tone" scanning to be pretty useless because it interferes with normal scanner operation, as you've noticed. I can't tolerate the skipping caused by it switching to the other mode. If there was a "Do Not Disturb" variant, like they now have for Close Call, that'd be a big plus in my books.

No scanner will alert on FIPS codes with or without weather priority, those ONLY work in dedicated weather radio mode. In weather priority mode, it will check and you'll lose a snippet of all transmissions - but it will alert for ANY weather warning for ANY county covered by your weather radio.
