In the U1.1 firmware for the WS1095, the expert option for the IF output is HP (headphone) only, while the PSR800 has both HP and HP/SP (speaker) options. Is this an oversight in the 1095 firmware or is it not possible to output to the speaker when the headphone is used for IF output?

It's not possible with the EXT SPKR option,

Don answered this over at http://forums.radioreference.com/gre-scanners/315251-whistler-ws-1095-shipping-week.html, post #148.

IF Out (discriminator audio):

When the scanner was first designed, IF Out was a desired feature, and it was going to be ported over from the PSR-800. However, because the audio paths are different in the PSR-900 and GRE couldn't get the speaker IF Out to work, they removed the feature.

Whistler resurrected the PSR-900 design, and after months of hardware and software changes, created the WS1095. Renewed interest in the IF Out function from RR caused Whistler to take another look and determined that it could be made to work through the headphone jack but not the EXT speaker.

Unfortunately, the first production run was already complete and shipped from the factory.

The first production run has date code (sticker on the back of the unit) 04A15. This run does not have IF Out
Subsequent production runs (date code 05A15 or later) does have IF Out circuitry and only required a CPU update to make functional.

If you have a unit with date code 04A15 and want the IF Out feature, the recommendation is to contact customer service at 1-866-923-8719 and you will be directed to a repair center that can update your unit.

Im not sure that post is exactly what I'm talking about. From the manual: "IF Out/IF Output When HP is selected, the IF (discriminator) signal will be present at the headphone jack for use by external decoding software. When HP/SP is selected, the IF signal will also be present at the speaker. Default is Off.
Scanner Press or to select Off, HP, HP/SP.
Software Advanced Features > IF Audio Output Options > IF Output- Off, Headphone, Headphone and Speaker."

So, on the PSR800 I can hear the discriminator audio while using the HP output to a decoder. I'm not clear as to why this wouldn't work on the 1095 UNLESS the hardware doesn't support sending the signal to both the HP jack and the "internal" speaker on the 1095. not the external speaker jack, but playing audio through the speaker will decoding from the HP jack, just as it does on the PSR800.

Different hardware and audio paths compared to the PSR-800 / WS1080. IF Out through the speaker and the rear panel EXT speaker jack does not work on the WS1095 hardware.
