So, if someone gave you a blank check that could only be used for one radio, what would you get and how would you use it? For example, say you have a Uniden BCD396XT now, would you get a Uniden BCD996XT? Would you continue to scan with one, but search with the other one? Would you get a scanner, a communications receiver, an amateur radio, commercial land mobile gear, or something else?
In my case, since I already have both a Uniden BCD396XT and a BCD996XT, I think I would spring for a Uniden Home Patrol HP-1 for a vehicle.
Now, if Yaesu's forthcoming amateur radio with either P25 or DMR were available now, I might be inclined to spring for that. I have always liked the ability to scan with my ham rigs out of band, so if I could scan amateur radio frequencies and APCO P-25 conventional. that would be pretty sweet.
If it were for just land mobile gear, I may be interested in a Motorola XTS5000, or if the blank check could handle it, perhaps a Motorola APX7000 multi-band transceiver.
Anyway, what would you guys here like to get and how would you use it?
