It makes no difference whether that message is broadcast over a radio system, or spoken loudly in a crowded room. If I shout out state secrets, a law saying that passers-by can't listen doesn't defend my actions. The fault lies with the originator, not the listener.
I love that comment!!! That would mean the government taking responsibility. God help us if that were to ever happen. If IL is so concerned about their precious joe blow traffic stops and "where do you want to met for coffee" calls then perhaps they need to encrypt. I would love to see them spend the money to do that. One would only hope that the local media and WGN would take that story and run with it.
People tell me not to be concerned about my Mass and RI feeds going through Shoutcast servers in Chicago.....well, the way the interpretations are being extrapolated by his office, it will be illegal to broadcast a public safety agency through a computer (server) that is physically located in Illinois by next week. This is what I'm getting from Dan Brady's quotes.
I would not be concerned. I doubt IL would win many cases of state police going across the country to pick up people broadcasting a NYC or LA feed that happens to be routed through an IL server. If you think im going to dig deep enough to see what the physical location is of the servers where my local Detroit area stream goes through, you are wrong.
This is for Brady and the IL lawmakers if this goes through. (_|_)
