Hi All,
Many years ago I used to have a radioshack scanner with frequency guide book that would allow me to tune into all the local Toronto Police Divisions. I used to have the buttons programmed for example (1 - 11 division, 2 - 12 division etc. etc. )

Of course everything is gone to trunk tracking. I am going to pick up a uniden bct15 scanner for my home.

I'm told I will have the ability to stay with an officer’s call. Let’s say I program it for Metro’s 12 division. One officer is calling a 10-33 !! and then goes off air.. does this trunk tracking pick up on that same call ?

Also, will i have the ability to listen to all the radio calls per division like I used to ? (ie 12 division, 41 division) and program them into the scanner. So after I return from vacation, I can simply push button 4 for example 41 division and it will automatically be ready to pick that up ? or do i have to re-program all the time.

I do not see any frequency books anywhere anymore ? Do they still exist ? Will they specifically allow me to program the different toronto police divisions ?

thank you for reading this and hopefully in the near future I will have more to contribute rather than questions :)

Try this for more info... http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?stid=109

You may need a Digital capable scanner (I didn't check), which the bct15 is not. For Ministry of Health and OPP you would definitely need one...
Hi there. In order to listen to Toronto's Public safety system you will need a trunk tracking scanner.

This is the page with all the info you require.
The talkgroups are listed.

Note to Lord J the MOH are still analog.

I checked the review and it appears to be a trunk tracker.
TrunkTracker III - EDACS, MOTOROLA, E.F. JOHNSON

The guy who I'm buying it from has the police already programmed to some extent, so I assume it will suffice.

Just remember to make sure that the south zone is programmed in & that all the division talkgroups are entered to follow the action
13 division is on either what is listed (13 D) or the Highway talkgroup 5008.

Other divisions are commonly patched 2 gether
I.E. 11 & 12 Divisions
22-23, 51/53
32/33
are commonly patched.
14
52
31 are stand alone.

M3, you might also want to read the overview and tutorial linked on this wiki article. This will help you understand the concepts, so you understand how a trunked system works....

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Trunking

You will also find that programming the BCT15 using the Uniden manual can be confusing. There is an 'Easier to Read' manual available here;

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Trunking

undoubtedly at some point you are going to want to make changes.
