In the RR Datebase you can select your state/county/city to get a feel for what is active in your local area. In the RR Wiki, there is a link to a listing of common frequencies in use as a general guidline to what frequency ranges various services operate. in This will get you going and you should find something to listen to very quickly. Also in the Wiki, read the various sections to become familiar with the hobby. You will find there are a wide variety of things to listen to, and you may find something of particular interest to you. You may also want to take a look at the Illinois forum in the section near the bottom of the Forums page. This will give you access to others in your area whom you can use as resources.
