I'm learning....slowly--still need help!

OK, so I got a new scanner for Christmas! A PRO-106. I've been learning how to program it, etc. With all my other scanners, I always just paid someone to do it for me. Now, I'm doing this all myself and it is a steep learning curve! I'm sure I'll be posting a lot, but for now, I have a couple of questions.

First of all, when programming using WIN-500 and RR, are the talkgroups that they offer the only ones available to scan?

Also, out of curiousity, does anyone know if it possible to hear the new Cottonwood Heights police dept.?

It just seems that with what I have uploaded, I don't hear very much SLC, mostly, West Valley, South SL, Sandy. Is it possible to get the SL county or city departments?

makes sure you put midvale and cottonwood hieghts on the salt lake simo and the talk group is the same for midavle which is 23040 ok they have their own car to cart but not their own dispatch ch. i hear midvale and cottonwood heights all day long

ps i forgot to tell you salt lake city pd is on its own trunking sytem yo can find it on the radio referance data base and it should be programed as a new and seperat object of it own
