decode LTR bursts and show the LCN so I can program an LTR system into a scanner. Are there any programs that do this ? It's a royal pain in the a** trying to figure out LTR LCN's with just a scanner.

I've tried LTRtrunk but it just sits there and does almost nothing, even though I have trunker working just fine.

Thanks.

Have you tried "ltrunk" the original command-line decoder? A bit of a fuss to work with but may do what you want. Also, Ltrdump, which logs the bursts. Having a proper filtered decoder should make a difference.

Thanks DaveH.

Do you know where I can get ltrunk? I also tried LTRdump but no luck still. I don't have the technical ability to make a properly filtered decoder.

Connect Systems Incorporated makes an LTR trunking decoder, model LT-2.
It decodes the idle channel bursts that show the LTR repeater's channel number. It also displays (on the unit) the home channel and ID of the users(s) on a given channel. It also outputs the area, home channel, go to channel, ID, and free channel fields to RS232 ASCII. A simple terminal program (like Windows hyperterminal) is all that's needed to read the information. I have one of these units. See the following link for more info:

http://www.connectsystems.com/public_html/products/lt2.htm

They also have a user manual available for download.

With this unit, you don't need to build a filtered slicer, it's inside the box :)

It was attached to a forum thread somewhere back around Nov 2003. I've looked but haven't been able to find it yet. The fellow who developed it is called "Opus" from Australia.

If you can't get Ltrdump to work, it's doubtful Ltrunk will do much better. There is something in the levels that needs fixing. Are you using a disciminator tap (should be)?
That said, I've had varying luck with LTR decoding across different systems and receivers (try a different RX, see if that helps).

It may be a nice box but it is mainly for the service market at that price (Lou points out); or for scan enthusiasts with lots of extra $$$ kicking around. For the simple task JG is talking about, even an unfiltered (Hamcomm) slicer should work. It may decode unreliably during voice, due to voice corrupting the data, but will indicate Home, Free and GoTo repeaters during gaps in voice, or sometimes during voice. That should be enough to figure out Home Repeaters using LTRTrunk or LTRDump.

I am using a trunker setup that gives me about 95%. I use a BC895 as the discriminator tap.

I've tried running LTRdump with voice present and with data bursts only. The data slicer I'm using is one of these: http://www.dataslicers.com/ .

Here is a log file of what I'm getting:

Hello,

Did you try changing the TRACKSLICERMODE= line in the setup file?

The above logfile text was NORMAL. I tried INVERT for a few minutes and got similar results:

Hello,

It looks like inverted is the right setting. How strong is the signal? It appears the signal is weak or voice on the frequency is causing errors with the unfiltered slicer.

Try a few frequencies with the inverted setting. It may take some monitoring to catch a good frame here and there.

With regular LTR there are about 7 frames per second, Passport and Multi-Net LTR are about 3 or 4 frames per second.
