I'm sure everyone has come across this problem...

I was wondering if there is any easy way to transfer a frequency that you just discovered into a channel without having to move every single frequency up one channel.

Say I keep all the police in my area organized by city in the first bank (1-100) and I find a new frequency for so and so that I want to add alongside the others. The problem is, I have almost all of my channels filled up in my bank and I want to add a certain frequency to a group of lower channel departments in my bank. Is there any way you can transfer the whole bank up one step so you can enter that frequency without going through every single frequency and transfering it up one whole step (or channel)? Anyone understand what I mean?

I'm thinking that there may be only certain scanners that have this feature or maybe none of them at all do. Anyways, does anyone know how I could go about doing this? Any special tricks you can do to pull it off? It would sure save me alot of time.

Some software/scanner packages allow you to do this, I know Win92 for the Pro92/2067 allow this, as does the ScanControl package for most Uniden models. Without using a software programing utility, I don't think so.

There is no way to insert a freq in a bank without software and reprogramming from the point you did the insertion.

That's what I was afraid of. I spent almost an hour earlier today transfering all my frequencies up one channel to fit one in on channel 14. You can imagine how fun that was sitting there doing all that.

I was hoping there was some way I could get around it though since it does tend to take alot of time and it always seems like I come across a frequency that I want to organize next to a couple of other frequencies.

Oh and, sorry about that double post up there. Don't know how that happened. Went to edit it to see if I could delete it and the option wasn't there.

I've run into that scenario a hundred times and it continues. You can't beat a good software package. I've programmed and reprogrammed my radios many many times in order to keep like channels and talkgroups together. Seems as if you get it just where you like it, and you discover another channel or talkgroup in the agencies you listen to and the reprogramming goes on...
