So I'm sitting here tonight, playing with my new Pro-97, using the limit search function to scan for milair, when to my surprise, it stops on 221.40250 and across comes the dispatcher of Montgomery Co Fire Board channel 7alpha.

What's up with this?

What they are saying about images is that you think you have found a new frequency, but you havn't. An image is like the original frequency being "reflected" to a different freqency. I can't really explain it more than that, gets too technical.

It's possible, though the likelihood is kinda low, that's it's an image, since the 97 is, I think, triple conversion. I've always thought that 154.16 sounded kinda hot (running the deviation a bit too high); anyone look at the signal with a good spectrum analyzer lately? It wouldn't surprise me at all if it was throwing out a few spurs.

In any case, there's nothing wrong with your 97. It would be interesting if others reported that same signal, however. Are you using an external antenna? 73s Mike

I live on a ridge in upper Montgomery Co, out near Sugarloaf Moutain. I am using an external discone mounted at about 12 feet. The closest tower to me, I believe, is the one located approx 4 miles away at the new jail in Clarksburg.

At 4 miles away, you're probably not getting overloaded, unless at your height, you can actually see the tower.....probably just a spur of some kind.

221.4 - 154.16 = 67.24 is the video carrier of Channel 4

Maybe not that one, but there are tons of other mix posibilities
