ProScan: Import hpe problem

I've imported a hpe file to ProScan and the only data that I can see in the Favorites Editor is the location lat/lon. The Favorites listing on the left indicates the number of freqs in the newly imported file along with the system and department names. When I select any of the departments there is no info in the right pane, other than location data.

Not sure what the problem might be. It used to be a simple thing that I've done many times before. I'm using the latest version.

Thanks.

I guess I should have added a question mark to previous post to solicit a response.

Attached. What I've done as a workaround is to import the hpe file into Uniden Sentinel then export it back to an hpe,,overwriting the old hpe file. Then import the newly created hpe into ProScan.

Maybe something corrupt. Not sure.

It looks like you used the HP1 / HP2 Sentinel version (orange icon) to export the hpe file. Is that correct?
You want to use the BCDx36HP Sentinel version (green icon).

How were you able to determine that the .hpe file was exported from Home Patrol Sentinel?

Yes, but how do you read an .hpe file?
Just import it into Sentinel, to a new Favorites list. That way, you'll see the basic information one of the scanners need to use the file.

Opening with Notepad, or Notepad ++ just gives you a hot mess of letters and numbers, not in a recognizeable format.

I don't see how that would let me see the .hpe header. If I look at the .hpd file I can see it but that's not what I need. I have a bunch of .hpe files that I may just delete and start over. It's obviously a mix/match of .hpe files exported from Home Patrol and Uniden Sentinel. And the only way I see to get this fixed is to import the .hpe files into Uniden Sentinel then export the .hpe as new so ProScan can read it.

Use windows os command ‘type’ piped to ‘more’ or windows app notepad. Use Linux os command head or cat.

I wouldn’t bother… i’d just do as you say and import into Sentinel x36 and review before exporting for ProScan. Would literally be less effort than you have put into this line of questioning about how to see file header.

Perhaps when exporting files from Sentinel, add the scanner type to the file name so instead of "CA State.hpe", make it "HP2 CA State.hpe"
