Important Product Information Extensive Damage to Facility of Global Microcircuit Supplier
An important microcircuit manufacturing facility recently suffered extensive damage that will affect several global electronics manufacturers' future supply, including JVCKENWOOD Corporation.
Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM) is one of the world's largest manufacturers of large-scale integrated circuits (LSIs), including digital-to-analog converters (DACs), analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and other components integral to the manufacture of consumer and professional products in the audio and appliance industries. Many are IC and TCXO devices that are custom in nature and utilized by JVCKENWOOD.
While the investigation is ongoing, JVCKENWOOD has determined that there is minimal to no impact on the KENWOOD Viking Series models at this time. In addition, JVCKENWOOD has determined that there could be some inventory disruption as early as April 2021 for Enterprise Systems subscribers (NEXEDGE/DMR). However, length and specific models remain unclear. Once the full extent for the Communications Sector is understood, we will advise you immediately.
To conserve AKM components indigenous to Kenwood branded products, JVCKENWOOD has suspended manufacturing of several models. Estimated final availability dates are summarized in the following table. Please note, only those models available as part of an Enterprise System Solution are listed below.
