• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

The volume seems a bit low. (never reaching over 50%)

What is the load it puts on your outbound bandwidth per connected user?

Consult the Pdf (maybe).

There are a bunch of bandwidh tools out there but using them in a consistant manner would be tough.

You would really need to know from BUTEL what codec he is using and whether or not it is multicast (I doubt it).

From a server perspective can you see the number of connections?

This may help... some :)

Your volume is low

Can you crank up the record side of the line in input?

Kind of high.
8K mono is about 11k and is AM quality but that doesn't include data.

10 users on ARC is 350K. If your upload speed is 512 the you have just given up 2/3rds of it.
That is not really a bad thing.

It is just alot of BW

Do you include Med Bravo (38336) as one of the talk groups on the feed? It's one of the best talk groups on the system.
