Importing ham radio from USA

Hi, I am planning a trip to BC and am considering ordering a ham radio from the USA to be delivered whilst I'm in Canada.

Is there is any customs tax/duty or state/provinical sales tax payable on ham radio gear imported to Canada from the USA?

The short answer is yes.

I have imported many radios from the states and it almost always comes with a 20 - 40 dollar boarder fee.
Depending on the weight of the unit. I have also found that some companies like DHL are much worse then say USPS or Canada Post for over chargeing on said customs fees.
