In Dallas for 2 weeks

Hey guys,

I am visiting Dallas for 2 weeks starting right now. I am staying in Irving at the Holiday Inn, from which I can see aircraft approaching DFW. Besides the obvious air band stuff, what else is worth listening to here? I am using a BC246t, and unfortunatly don't have my programming cable with me, so all manual programming.

From where you are, there are several trunked systems you should be able tto hear, besides the City of Dallas conventionals:
Irving's EDACS system
The NE Tarrant County system, which covers cities immediately to the west & n/w of DFW Airport
The Lewisville system, which covers Coppell & other cities north/northeast of the airport
The Carrollton system, three large suburbs farther northeast of the airport
If you're on the north end of the airport, you can also probably hear Denton County TRS
You probably can also hear the Arlington system as well as the Fort Worth/Tarrant County system.
DFW Airport itself is Provvoice, and the other neighborboring suburb to the south, Grand Prairie, is digital on the public safety talk groups (mixed analog & digital voice Type II system).

Ya know ... does Uniden ship from Fort Worth? You would think you could have a cable overnight by UPS or USPS.

Actually, for their shipping charge (6.95 or 8.95, I forget which), he could drop by & pick one up if in stock. I believe they're in that sliver of Fort Worth just outside the s/w corner of DFW Airport (near the FAA complex).
