Someone needs to talk to the folks using 296.9- someone there is
throwing numerous open carriers. Same thing was heard ealier on 360.15
and 364.8. 296.9 is, I think, 1st FW

Since it seemed it didn't make it to the list before, here's something
else - 254.35 Potomac was talking to 2 a/c men that the whole way (down
the Chesapeake, I think) was closed until 6pm EST

Most notable - no VHF milair stuff yet. Very interesting. 73s Mike

Some more stuff...

Since it seems things are slowing down a bit, I went thru some of my
audio logs to catch callsigns from this morning
277.6 Harass and Tanker 01
260.9 Harass 23,24, Tanker 03 and Wizard (and heard quite a bit of the
discussion of lost tracks Ron mentioned in his earlier post)
135.525 Tanker 01 was the one with the 5 min request; RTB
135.725 Rocco 61 was the one calling for fuel
255.0 Whiskey

and some newer stuff...
228.45 1st FW
343.0 PA ANG heard several times in the noonish hour
138.25 the only VHF milair heard here, idle a/a chit chat
311.0 possibly refuel discrete, very weak
346.6 possibly Giant Killer, also quite weak
364.2 possibly AWACS, also weak reception here
265.4 Wizard, Huntress - new one for me thanx original poster

133.82 This is a Washington Center ARTCC a/d freq; pilot was wondering
why he had to divert his flight plan and wanted his old one back. I'm
sure the controller said 'no'....

I'll pull callsigns for these a bit later.
I had to laugh at the confirmation word Potomac is now requiring for
checkins....someone has a sense of humor :.)

I've heard "Omaha-04" and -05 coming and going, checking in with "Bluegrass"
on 241.000. They said they would be landing at "Alpha-4". I've seen it
listed as the Pentagon tower, but that does not correspond to this site http://www.globalair.com/airport/airportinfo~/AptCode=JPN showing the tower
as 143.1 and 231.3.

I haven't seen it listed anywhere, but I can also receive weakly 242.375
which seems to be the ATIS for the "Bluegrass special facility".
This site http://www.presidentialufo.com/kecksburg.htm tells me that it is
likely Mt. Weather. At one point earlier today what may have been a
Blackhawk flew eastbound over my house. Mt. Weather is nearly due west of
where I live.

On 349.500 I heard an inbound aircraft discussing passenger and cargo
off-load.
On 378.100 SAM Control I heard Tail # 40259.

I've noted Huntress (228.9) on several occasions this afternoon. I
haven't seen that freq reported in a bit. Also there's been some
refueling traffic on 303.0. Omaha 01 was also noted on 282.425 (DHS/BICE aircraft)
Interestingly, there was one xsmn on 138.25 where someone mentioned
going to 256.8. I entered that freq into my scan list, but came up
empty.

Speaking of empty, there's been remarkably little traffic mentioning
the Inauguration on the Potomac/BWI freqs; I'm too far away from Reagan
and Dulles to see if that was the case there. I've been checking both
the milair and civilian Potomac/BWI freqs, and they're just as busy as
they usually are, with only a mention here and there of the event.

Hello,
I've been listening to a internet stream (here at work) most of the day. Pretty routine stuff except for the brief IFE around 5pm.

Can't wait to get home and listen to the recordings to see if I missed anything.

BTW 311.0 is usually A-A refueling contact freq for Steel units out of Pittsburgh.

I was on my way home from Baltimore and from around 1100 through about 1300 it sounded like they were having a hard time maintaining time synch for Link 16 with the AWACS? I heard reference to Link 16 from Wizard (AWACS I think).

When I was in the Navy we used Link 4A and Link 11. Does anyone have any information on Link 16 and it's differences to say Link 11? I was a Data Systems Tech and worked with the guys that maintained the link gear so I know what it is but not too much about it.
