Avalanche near Independence Pass buries several people

An avalanche about nine miles outside of Twin Lakes buried several people early Saturday evening.
The number of people involved in the avalanche was not immediately available. At the scene, crews were using dogs and flashlights to search for any survivors. As of 6 p.m., no one had been found, but it is believed that there might have been survivors.
