Independence PD APCO

Does anyone know when Indep, MO PD is going APCO 25? I heard they where going to 700 mhz? Does anyone know about this? Thanks JC

Independence PD

I heard Motorola won the bid for the 700 MHz trunked system. It will be the first of its kind in missouri. Unknown if it will be APCO 25 or not, but I'd imagine it will

All 700 MHz systems for Public Safety are going to be APCO-P-25. The only allowance for 700 MHz analog are for SMRs.

I thought 700 MHz was for public safety only.

Nope there are allowances for business usage in analog, or digital. The restriction is that PS MUST use digital modulation *preferrably APCO-P-25 compliant*

Somewhere.. I think it was the California board there is discussion of a SMR on 700..... Too lazy to look it up now.

But 700 is for trunking only as far as I know. No conventional yet.

Note the yet, as with any bandwidth, what the FCC does in the future is always subject to changes.
