Ok question here, I am wondering do you program all the frequencies from a specific site for ex: Edinburgh Johnson County frequencies then the talkgroups for that specific area in order for the radio to function properly.

Try asking that question again? What do you mean 'function properly'? You don't have to enter all the freqs, just the control channels. And you don't have to enter all the talkgroups for that area, just the ones you want to hear.

So all you do is program the control frequency then the talkgroups that you would want then you would be able to talk on it wright.

Well, what are you programming here? If you're scanning, you can't talk on it.

You can program just the control frequencies, just make sure you select control channel only in the menu.

And yes, you just program the frequencies from one site at a time. Each tower in the state is a seperate site.

Unless it is one of the few counties that are simulcast, Shelby County is one that is and is close to him. But with Control Channel trunking, all you need it the primary and alternate frequency.

You need to program all the Frequencies for the neareast Tower site near his location.Program all the frequencies in order. If you will go the the Data Base of this fourm and look under Safe-t you will find all the tower sites across the state by City Name.Being that you are in Columbus(Batholomew County) look for Columbus Tower site and program in the frequencies in order and then set your scanner to search. You will then see all the talkgroups that are in use on that tower. Also you can do the same for Johnson and Shelby County tower sites.Best Reguards To You."My door is always Open" Monitoing all of Metro Indainapolis/Marion County and Central Indiana" Tim DeLong W9NES
